“O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.”

Psalm 139:1
A man seated next to me at a banquet confided in me. “I lost 30 pounds! It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But the most difficult part is that nobody at work even noticed.”

You’d think the man’s co-workers would see such a significant weight loss. But perhaps because they are with him constantly and because it happened so gradually, they simply didn’t notice.

There is One who is always with us, more than just during a 40-hour work week. And He is the One who sees every change and effort we make— whatever kind of success or failure it may be, however significant or trivial it may be. Jesus knows us and understands us.

David wrote in the Bible of how thoroughly God knew him. This is precisely the way He knows us, too. And when no one else notices our personal accomplishments (or disasters), the Lord does. His attention to us does not grow apathetic or dull.

God knows every atom of our existence, every conscious thought and action, every influence on our subconscious, every joy and sorrow. Count on Him to notice—because He knows us!
