“When the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law.”
Galatians 4:4-5
Easter was only a couple weeks ago, and already we need to be reminded of what Jesus’ good news to us is all about. First, remember that it is about the Lord Himself condescending to us, about the eternal Son of God entering time.
If everything has its season, then that includes the Son of God. For Jesus there was a time to be born, and there was a time to die; a time to come and to seek and save the lost.
The One who knew exactly every season, oftentimes would tell others, “My time has not yet come.” At the wedding feast in Cana, His mother came to Him asking Him to do something when the wine had run out. His response was, “Why do you involve me? My time has not yet come” (John 2:4). When crowds wanted to stone Him or when His disciples urged Him on, He responded simply that His hour had not yet come. But on the eve of His passion, He definitively said, “My hour has come.”
The time had come, and it would bring the greatest agony the world could ever imagine, yet also the greatest and most profound joy that ever could be given.
