“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”

Luke 2:11
An elderly widow once told me I could not understand her life since I had never lost a spouse. Her comment made me stop and think. I can visit someone who is ill, but I cannot take up their illness. I can offer comfort to someone grieving, but I cannot take up their grief. Have you ever wondered how God could understand your life? He’s unlimited by time and space, boundless in power and knowledge. He understands your life because Jesus came down.

“Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering… he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities… and by his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:4-5). “A Savior has been born to you” (v. 11). “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9).

Regardless of who you are or where you’ve been; what you’ve done or not done; whether you’re rich, poor, young, or old; whether you’ve been “naughty or nice”… Jesus was born just for you!
