“If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you.”

John 15:10-11
Perhaps you know how it is to trust and believe in Jesus, yet worry and fret over daily matters. You know that you are trusting God to work all things for your good, but then you turn around and allow life’s situations to disturb your joy. The Christian life can be hard in that way.

But we can know with certainty that God is in control. Nothing that happens in this life takes Him by surprise. He sees all and holds everything together (see Colossians 1:17).

Jesus commanded us to trust Him as a little child does—with complete faith that his parent will care for him. So you and I—utterly unable to survive on our own, unable to save ourselves—rest in the care of Jesus. Go on and watch a little child at play. She sings and dances without a worry in the world. Her joy is almost tangible. Though we know a world that is dangerous, wicked, and under the sway of Satan himself, we also know that in the midst of it all we can be joyful, like a little child. We trust the Lord, we obey Him, and His joy in us is complete.
