“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Hebrews 13:8
Last year as COVID-19 swept across the globe with new cases and death tolls rising daily, people all strangely united in fear and worry. Daily routines were turned upside down. A new way of living was thrust upon us, and we realized how we’d taken for granted many of our freedoms. With the effects of the virus pressing in closer to our own lives, we’ve been reminded that there is no true security outside of Christ.

Jesus told the parable of the two men who built houses, one on shifting sand and the other on solid rock. When the wind came, the house built on the sand fell, but the one built on the rock stood firm. Everyone longs for security. We can see the lengths people will go to for it by building financial wealth, careers, physical health, relationships, etc. Yet if all of those good things are built on sand which shifts so quickly, security can fall to ruin.

There is only one foundation that will never collapse: Jesus Christ. If we build our lives on Him, we are secure. The world may change, but He will not.
