“Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’”

Mark 6:31
Have you ever come to the place in your walk with the Lord that you feel the journey is just too much? The struggle with work, responsibility, and stress weigh you down. Your joy has been buried beneath it all. Where can you turn for renewal, rest, and strength? When your soul is weary, you need God’s restoration.

In 1 Kings 19 we read of Elijah fighting the prophets of Baal and God’s power to destroy them. Elijah was running for his life. As he lay down to rest, God sent an angel to tend to him. The angel said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you” (v. 7). So that is exactly what Elijah did! Strengthened by food and drink, he began the long 40-day journey to Mt. Horeb, the mountain of God.

When we are soul-weary, we need the touch of the Lord letting us know He is with us and is providing for us. Perhaps there is a place of solitude you like to retreat to—on a mountain trail, on your back deck, on a bench in a shady park, in a sunlit room of your house. Run there to the Lord for rest and strength; He will meet you.
