“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

1 Corinthians 10:31
Most of us have daily routines. We have a certain route we follow to work. We have duties that we take on day after day. Even though I’m retired now, I still have a daily routine. Much of it includes ordinary tasks, things I don’t think much about because they are usually done automatically.

What if the ordinary parts of life were actually opportunities for blessing? What if we lived this day deliberately paying attention to the provision and gifts of God all around us? What if we saw the ordinary things as evidence of grace and reason for praise?

Sitting through a tedious staff meeting?

Be thankful for employment.

Driving noisy kids to soccer practice?

Praise God for the gift of children.

Cleaning the kitchen after a meal?

Be grateful for God’s provision of food.

Working on the never-ending laundry?

Rejoice that we’re blessed with clothing to wear.

Life may begin to feel different if we find joy in the ordinary. Remember that Jesus has broken into your ordinary world in many ways, most profoundly by rescuing you from sin.
