“We went into the land to which you sent us, and it flows with milk and honey! …But the people who live there are powerful and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw the descendants of Anak there.”

Numbers 13:27-28
Obedience is easy when we can see that the way ahead looks manageable. But when there is rocky terrain and we must let go of our security, we hang back while doubts creep in. Have you at times listened to your fears rather than move forward with trust in the Lord? You might have come to a place in your journey where you know where He would have you go, but instead of continuing in faith, you’ve stopped short in fear of the unknown.

Jesus has promised to be with us wherever we go. He will direct our steps and provide the way through, no matter what the obstacles are. He walks beside us. The path may be steep; “giants” may fill the land. But we step out in faith and obedience to a reward that is great.

God saw that His servant Caleb had a trusting spirit and followed Him wholeheartedly. Because of that, the Lord promised him an inheritance in that good land (see 14:24). The giants he faced as well as the daunting futures we face could not keep him nor us from the “milk and honey,” as long as we are walking with our Savior.
