“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”

Psalm 32:7
It amazes me how patient God is with me in my childish ways. Sometimes I can be quite petulant, distrusting what He is doing, as if I know better than He does how to run the world. When I doubt Him, question Him, or even get angry at Him, His patience is immense. No matter what my behavior, He welcomes me into the hiding place of His open arms.

When Thomas doubted Him, when Nicodemus questioned Him, when the crowds grew angry and riotous against Him, Jesus responded with patience. He spoke in love that is rooted in His knowing them even before the foundation of the world was made.

Besides our own childish rebellion and sin in this life, we also meet other troubles like world pandemics, broken relationships, deaths of loved ones, financial ruin, and so on. But He protects us from complete despair. We realize that if He cares for us and comforts us in the little bumps in the road, is He not big enough to be there even more in His power and strength when the mighty waters rise?
