“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.”

Isaiah 26:3
Do you remember playing the staring game when you were a child? You would sit across from your friend or sibling and stare right into each other’s eyes until one person blinked. Hardly ever do we fix our gaze on another person so intensely as with that game!

But as we give God our total attention and focus, we’ll be amazed to find that He turns in our direction. We may “blink” or turn away, but He never does. And while it felt odd in the childhood game to stare into another’s eyes, God’s peace comes over us when we look to Him so that we know we are secure in Him.

Satan will do everything in his power to break our concentration. He hates it when we are focused on Jesus. He wants us to blink and be off-balance. The Apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10:5, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” That takes concentration!

How is your focus? Fix your eyes on Jesus, and He will take care of the rest.
