“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” Luke 5:16 “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

Romans 12:12
Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man. We know Jesus as fully God who commanded the entire universe—performing miracles, directing storms, and conquering death. But have you stopped to think that as fully man, Jesus needed to pray? He did all things not by Himself but with the Father (see John 5:19, 30), communicating with Him.

  • Jesus prayed in the morning (Mark 1:35).

  • He prayed at night (Luke 6:12).

  • Jesus prayed alone (Luke 5:16, Matthew 14:23, Mark 1:35).

  • He prayed in public (John 11:41-42).

  • He prayed at His baptism (Luke 3:21).

  • He prayed before choosing His disciples (Luke 6:12).

  • Jesus prayed when He was healing people (Mark 7:34-35).

  • Jesus prayed before feeding the 5,000 (Mark 14:19).

  • He prayed at Lazarus’ tomb (John 11:41-42).

  • He prayed before His crucifixion (Mark 14:32-41).

  • He prayed from the cross (Matthew 27:46).

Jesus displayed what it is to be “faithful in prayer.” As life goes on, you recognize that without Jesus you can do nothing (see John 15:5). Lean on God in prayer—morning, noon, and night.
