“He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

Daniel 6:27
Pagan King Darius had no love for God but great loving respect for Daniel. So he was distraught when he realized he’d set up his friend to be fed to the lions. But he was overjoyed the next morning when he found Daniel alive. His question to Daniel is revealing: “Has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?” (v. 20b) Hearing the answer, he decreed all should reverence Daniel’s miracle-working God.

Still, sometimes the miracles we seek don’t happen. We have no idea how God chooses His miracles. Not long ago our adult son contracted meningitis. He was critically ill but then recovered rapidly. Even the doctor declared his recovery a miracle. Sometimes when someone needs a special evidence of God, He does a miracle to lift up His name. Perhaps, our son’s doctor or some hospital staff needed the evidence.

Most people were not seeking the miracle of God coming down to us in human form, arriving as a baby to a young girl and her fiancée. But this was exactly the miracle we all needed.
