“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:20
I love a good mystery, but I love its solution even more. I would much rather have complete answers than nagging questions. I believe it speaks to our desire for control that we humans are driven to seek out explanations rather than to live with the uncertainties.

How God will order our lives has not been completely revealed to us. We know that the God who created and sustains everything has made us and has arranged our lives to the smallest detail. The problem is that we don’t know those details, and that can be a frightening thing.

We may trust God with life’s big questions but worry about the day-to-day of our own lives. We struggle to fix our eyes on Christ, who promised us Himself. In making this promise, He assured us of two things: that we’d have all that we need, and that in this life the only guarantee is Himself.

Why is that good news? Because Christ has overcome this wicked world and all the sorrows in it. While we face an unknown earthly future, we can trust that we will not be left to face it alone.
