“‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.’”

Revelation 21:3
Do you live each day anticipating Jesus’ return? Years ago I heard about a pastor who was going to Africa on a mission trip. The plane he was in lost power and began to nose-dive. With just a short distance before impact, the engines kicked in and the pilot evaded a disaster. The missionary told his African friends of the near miss, and they replied, “We’re so sorry! You could have been with Jesus, but instead you are with us.” Do you look forward to seeing Jesus to that degree?

As a pastor, I would like to say my answer is yes. But on many busy days, I forget about my eternal hope. My son Steven, 22, has cerebral palsy from brain damage suffered at birth. In telling why he loves Jesus, he reminds a dad like me to keep my eyes on Christ and eternity: “I am thankful that God made me and I know He has a purpose in my life. I know He took my sins on the cross. I can’t wait to meet Him in the new heavens and new earth.”

Steven knows his need of a Savior, that God’s purposes are good, and that in a perfect body he’ll be with Him one day.
