“For we wanted to come to you—certainly I, Paul, did, again and again—but Satan stopped us.”

1 Thessalonians 2:18
If Satan can hinder Paul from serving the Lord, he can hinder you, too. He may, in fact, hinder Christians in many kinds of ways. He can tempt us to sin (1 Thessalonians 3:5), accuse us (Revelation 12:10), try to outwit us and deceive us (2 Corinthians 11:14), or ensnare us (Revelation 2:10).

Without a doubt he is our great enemy, and his servants are many. He lies (John 8:44), schemes (2 Corinthians 2:11, Ephesians 6:11), and prowls around like a lion looking for prey (1 Peter 5:8).

But he cannot ever stop us if we belong to Jesus Christ. When Jesus was tempted, He did not fall into sin. When Jesus was killed, He rose from the dead. When Satan blinded the world in darkness, the light of God in Christ shone forth in glory so that the darkness did not overcome it.

Do you belong to Jesus? Then you’ve already won! In this life, Satan may persecute you and hinder you. But he never operates outside of God’s perfect will for you. Nothing will stop God from spreading His gospel and bringing the dead to everlasting life.
