“But God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!”

Psalm 66:19-20
When I was in the neuro-rehabilitation hospital, I had some interesting roommates (which comes with the territory in a hospital for patients with traumatic brain injuries!). One roommate had no confidence that the nurse would hear and respond to his call button, so he yelled loudly enough to be heard at the nurses’ station. You couldn’t help hearing him, especially from where I was in the bed a few feet away from him!

Like my roommate who worried that he wouldn’t be heard, we might doubt that God hears our prayers. We sure hope He does, but we feel uncertain. Charles Stanley said, “God never intended us to approach Him with a ‘hope so’ attitude. He wants us to trust Him. Our good, loving and powerful heavenly Father is always available to hear and answer the prayers of His children” (2012).

When coming to God in prayer, be assured that He will hear and answer you (1 Peter 3:12). He also will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Let these promises be a very real comfort to you as you call out to the Lord.
