“In fear and amazement they asked on another, ‘Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.’”

Luke 8:25
I trust You, Lord, As the guardian of my life, My refuge in the storm, The One who saves me from trouble. I’ve praised You readily on smooth, glassy seas, But do I rush to You when the waves crash around me?

I falter in my trust Like a pitching boat. Often I try to take matters into my own hands, Standing up and only rocking the boat more.

Like the merchants on ships in the psalm, I feel the storm mount up, sending me high and low. My courage melts away. I come to my wits’ end.

Like the crew tossed about and desperate, Let me cry out to You in my trouble, And see how You bring me to a safe harbor.

For You, Lord, will always in Your good timing Still the storm to a whisper. I will give thanks to You For Your unfailing love.
