“Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

1 Corinthians 15:58
Christmas is over. The ads, the shopping, and the busyness are diminishing. Now it’s time to clean up, catch up, and pay up. You’ll likely see acts of kindness lessen, politeness dim, peacefulness die away, and love weaken as “the season of joy” fades into normal life. A world of competition kicks into full gear. Nations still war against each other, religions still fight one another, Christians still harass other Christians.

Has anything changed at all after our magnificent celebrating that in Jesus’ birth God came down? Be patient. God will bring His city down to earth! It will be prepared as a beautiful bride (Revelation 21:2). The effects of sin will be gone forever (v. 4). It will be secure and protected (v. 12-14), spacious and gorgeous (v. 15-17), and configured for health (v. 22-26). God Himself will dwell among His people (v. 3).

I’ve ministered to people near death who hung on until all their loved ones had a chance to say goodbye. Like them, hang on until the Lord’s time arrives. It will be worth it all!
