“Let the name of the LORD be praised, both now and forevermore. From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the LORD is to be praised.”

Psalm 113:2-3
Hallowed isn’t a word that we use very much these days. I’d venture to guess that the only time we do use it is when we’re praying the Lord’s Prayer. Since we might not even know what “hallowed,” means, it can make saying the Lord’s Prayer feel a bit awkward.

Hallowed is simply a verb form of the adjective “holy.” It can be used to mean “to make holy” or “to honor as holy,” and that’s what Jesus means when He gives us this line of the Lord’s Prayer: “Hallowed be your name.” He’s teaching us to pray that God’s name would be acknowledged and honored as holy.

Take some time to write down several ways you can strive to make God’s name holy. Whether it’s in the darkness of the penitentiary system or in the dark places on the outside, God’s name can and must be magnified.

Let me ask you: Do you think the Lord’s name is hallowed on the earth? Do you think the nations hallow the name of God as they ought? Is the name of Yahweh kept holy by His creatures? Sadly, no. It often is used thoughtlessly. And this is why we pray!
