"Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Remember,
O LORD, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old."
(PSALM 25:5-6)

Job 42:1-6
Stop to consider that every moment of your life you need leading. When things seem to be going well for us, it is especially easy to forget that our wandering hearts need the Lord’s leading each day. If I focus on the pain of my own story, I head down paths of despair that Jesus never intended for me. I can find myself like Job, longing for the old days when it seemed like the Lord was blessing everything (see Job 29:1-6).

I need to beg the Lord for what truly is from the “old days”: His great mercy and steadfast love. Out of His deep love for me, He has safeguarded my salvation. The moment I knew Jesus as my Savior, that forever-healing was secured, even if the healing from cancer may not be so.

Ultimately, Job affirmed that he knew God could do all things, that no plan of the Lord’s could be thwarted, and that he surely had spoken of things that were simply too magnificent for his finite mind to embrace. Accept the Lord’s gracious leading in your life, and stand sure in the only hope we have: Jesus Christ.
