“For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.”

Psalm 48:14
What comfort we find in singing the line, “And grace will lead me home” in John Newton’s hymn, “Amazing Grace.” He encouraged us further:

“Do not your hearts rejoice in that word, ‘The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms’? And if He is … engaged to uphold us, what power or policy can force us from Him? No, we may rejoice in it as a certain truth, let Satan and unbelief say what they will to the contrary— that the Lord’s afflicted people on earth are as safe … as His glorified people in heaven.

“They are embarked on a troubled sea. The tempests often roar, and the waves seem ready to swallow them up; but they have an anchor within the veil…. They have a Pilot, a Guardian, whose wisdom and power are infinite, and who, of His own good pleasure, has engaged His truth and honor, that He will bring them safe through all, to the haven of eternal rest. Let us therefore trust, and not be afraid. … How happy would we be, could we always believe … in the word of Him who cannot fail to accomplish His promise.”
