“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1
Some time ago I had a medical emergency at home when my heart stopped beating. But at that very moment, my wife walked by, and her nursing skills kicked in. She thumped my chest and got my heart beating again.

God is the Master Timer. “But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son” (Galatians 4:4). Alexander the Great spread a common culture and language throughout the world, and thus the gospel could go out more easily. Caesar built an extensive system of roads which were then in place for the apostles to travel. The Jews were dispersed to many cities so the disciples found them wherever they went. New religions were popular, fostering in people an openness to discussing God. So He came down. At the right time, Mary became pregnant by the Holy Spirit and at Caesar’s decree went to Bethlehem with Joseph. Everything was happening at just the right time.

Life doesn’t need to conform to your timing. Whatever you’re going through is on God’s schedule, and He will arrive—never too early or too late—to tie it all together.
