“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

Matthew 7:11
My sister knows that I care about her and think of her daily. And one thing of which I’m certain about Melissa, an individual with disabilities, is that she loves gifts. The gifts do not have to be big or fancy; they can be simple like a pink wristband, a matchbox car, or a stress ball.

When she comes to visit me at my place, she typically will ask, “What do you have for me?” Although it may be hard to tell whether she wants to see me or just wants to get something from me, I love her enthusiasm. She knows that I truly care about her. The small gifts are one expression of my love.

God knows what we want, too. And He has amazing things in store for His beloved ones. He lavishes those good gifts on us because of His great love for us, a love which we sometimes are unaware of. Do you know you can approach Him enthusiastically with your requests? “In everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6). When we do so, we acknowledge that He has what we need and is delighted to give it.
