“He saved us through … renewal by the Holy Spirit, … so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”

Titus 3:5, 7
Grace is, simply, undeserved favor (Romans 3:24). It’s “the quality of God that produces free gifts for guilty sinners in salvation” (John Piper 2020).

Grace is granted to us generously. It cannot be earned (Romans 11:6). It’s not limited to a particular number of people, nor is it excluded from any types of sinners. “God provides freely [the gift of salvation in Jesus Christ] what we could never obtain on our own. The sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross provides salvation through grace to all who believe. No matter how many people accept Him as Savior, the saving grace of Jesus is never exhausted. No matter what sins a person may have committed, grace is able to cover them all. Grace abounds more than sin ever could” (Paul Chappell, 2019).

This abounding grace has big effects in our daily lives. “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8). The gracious gift of salvation frees us to do good works for His glory!
