“As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were Egyptians. … They were terrified and cried out to the LORD. …Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid… The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.’”

Exodus 14:10, 13-14
Moses, who had asked God to pick someone else to lead the Israelites, was now having a shining moment. A Red Sea Moment. He had been with God, but he must have been shaking like a leaf.
Imagine the Red Sea lapping at his feet. The Israelites were still grumbling about their circumstances. And the thundering of hooves could be felt through the ground as Pharaoh’s army fast approached.
Whom did this coward-turned-leader lean on? His God! Moses trusted the unseen. If God couldn’t do this, nobody could. But He can. And He did! “The Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left” (v. 22). Amidst the Israelites’ complaining, it only took one trusting man to proclaim, “God will fight the battle for you.” After all, Moses had spent 40 years in the desert getting to know God… for this very Red Sea Moment!
Can you hear the “advance echo” of one Man who fought the battle for us? It’s Jesus! And when we get to the point that He is all we have, we discover that He is all we need.
