“We wait for … the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us … and to purify for himself a people that are his very own.”

Titus 2:13-14
Television ads used to claim that Ivory soap was 99.9% pure. That sounded pretty good! But God can do better than that. He purifies us from all unrighteousness, 100%. When we confess our sins, He washes us whiter than snow. Our sins are revealed to us and come to the surface but are thoroughly and forever removed.

“But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify … and refine them like gold and silver” (Malachi 3:2-3). The process may not feel good; there will be intense heat or concentrated scrubbing. But we will come through in the end shining like gold and silver.

Paul says in Ephesians that Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us to make us holy so that He can present us to Himself without stain, wrinkle, or blemish. One day He will welcome us into heaven with open arms. We will stand before Him clothed in His robe of righteousness. What a day that will be!
