“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:7
In this day and age, it is tempting to be discouraged at the world’s troubles. We feel like throwing our hands up in the air and saying, “Why, God? Why all this political unrest? Why this pandemic? Why so much unemployment? How long before our economy recovers? Can anything good come from this?”

God’s answer to our frustrations and questions is to keep our eyes on Him. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6). He actually welcomes our pleading prayers. He is like the good parent who listens to the child’s woes, comforts the child, and holds the child steady.

Besides submitting our requests, we can thank God for the blessings we do have. Are you still breathing? Thank Him for life! Do you see someone whose suffering right now is great? Go offer encouragement! Will you share the truth of the gospel with others? Let them know that where it matters most—in their relationship with God—there is peace to be found!
