As I am writing this, it is a sunny day, and I thank God for that! Without the sun, there could be no life on earth. And without the Son of God, we have no life that matters. Apart from Jesus, we have no hope of making a difference in this world. We need Him to help us share the light of the gospel with others in a world darkened by sin.

Even as children of the light, we wrestle daily with the pull of sin’s dark sway on our lives. Sometimes dark thoughts creep into my heart, thoughts of revenge for hurts of the past. Have you struggled with that at times, too? Proverbs 20:27 tells us, “The lamp of the LORD searches the spirit of a man; it searches out his inmost being.” It reveals our sin. God illuminates darkness—whether it is in the outside world or inside us. And then His Word sheds light on our lives: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Today thank God that through Jesus you walk in the light as He is in the light. And praise God that in Him there is no darkness at all!
