“‘God has come to help his people.’ This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country.”

Luke 7:16b-17
The good news that God is with us became infinitely clear in Jesus. His whole life—the precious 30-some earthly years—demonstrated His compassionate love and earnest desire to conquer the evil and death of our sin-tainted world.

We all face hardship at one time or another. But when we know He is with us, life is worth living. God has come to help His people. David wrote in the Psalms, “Each day he carries us in his arms” (68:19, NLT). Our God truly has come near!

The news about Jesus spread “throughout Judea and the surrounding country” (v. 16). Through faithful followers like you and me, that news is still spreading. Law enforcement chaplaincy has given me countless opportunities to share the encouraging words that the Lord is with us. Years ago I was riding with a police officer when he suggested, “Chappie, why don’t you send a short paragraph once a week to encourage us? Short, because we’ll only have a few moments to take it in.” Now every Thursday I send out a brief “Shield of Faith” word to many who serve and protect us.
