“Forgetting what lies behind and straining toward what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 3:13-14
I was born in 1934, the same year The Haven of Rest radio program began. I spent most of my life in a small rural community in northwestern Manitoba. In the mid-1970s and 80s, I experienced a real crisis in my life. But the Haven broadcast was instrumental in sustaining me and encouraging me in my walk of faith.
My brother-in-law, a pastor, once advised me, “If you want your dollar to be well-spent in support of a Christian ministry, choose a radio ministry. You’ll be paying for a message aired around the world, not for visual distractions or theatrics!” So in 2014 we sold our riverside property and home in Winnipegosis and moved into a modest apartment in Winnipeg, making plans to show our gratitude monetarily to Haven.
Recently, our 20-year-old grandson said, “Oma, you don’t understand why kids go to bars. They’re not really there to drink. They’re lonely. Not everyone comes from a loving Christian home like you do.” That spoke volumes to us! We want to come alongside of Haven in befriending others to give them the hope of Jesus.
