“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.”

Psalm 95:6-7
I wonder if the shepherds thought they mattered much. Did they think their lives were relevant to society? Surely they knew the sheep they were tending were important for the people’s sacrifices. But did the mundane work of their ordinary lives have them sighing from time to time at the routineness of it all?
Those shepherds mattered much to God. So do you! He comes to us in the ordinariness of our lives, overwhelming us with the gifts of unconditional love and perfect salvation. Do you feel irrelevant? Know that God has set His heart on you.
Jesus Himself never wondered about His own relevancy. He knew why He had come to earth, and it did not matter that He came unnoticed to much of the world as a simple carpenter’s son from irrelevant Nazareth. Jesus came to do the Father’s will (John 5:36), and He came as one with the Father (John 10:30).
You are relevant to God; you matter to Him. The question today is how will you respond to that relevance? Jesus redeemed your mundane life to make a radical difference in you.
