“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”

Psalm 42:1-2
While growing up in Africa, I often watched how deer would approach a nearby river. When thirsty, they genuinely were risking their lives for a drink, knowing lions and other predators were waiting to attack. But the deer reach the point where they are willing to risk dying just to quench their thirst. What if we craved drawing towards God that much? Would you give anything to pray and come near to your Savior?
Time and effort are needed to enrich any relationship in our lives. So it is with our Father. Prayer is not only communion with Him, it is a discipline requiring much attention. How much time yesterday did you commit to prayer? Were your prayers more than petitions and requests? The Lord, our Living Water, wants us to cry out to Him in all circumstances, whether we are in crisis or in ordinary daily communion with Him.
The One who drew near to you by coming as a baby in Bethlehem some 2,000 years ago still hears your every word as you speak to Him today. He risked and gave His very life to make sure of it!
