Think back on the spring of 2020 when the entire world came under the effects of COVID and the resulting shutdowns. Then think of your life now. For most of us, there has been significant improvement in the situation. We’re all grateful to be able to leave our homes now, though many still live with the grief of loved ones who died during that time.
When we are in the middle of suffering, it’s hard to believe that what we see, feel, and hear will end. While we endure what comes our way, we begin to believe that there is no escaping what has us trapped.
There is some truth to that. On this planet it is impossible to completely escape sin’s effects. Thankfully, we aren’t hopelessly stuck here; a better day that was promised is coming.
And that day will never, ever end. A place has been prepared for you and me by Jesus. This current trouble you are in may very well only die with your body. But we have the guarantee that our present troubles will cease. The day is coming when our souls will sing forever with every saint that ever was.
