“The earth is the LORD’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

Psalm 24:1, Isaiah 6:3b
Our world—every country, ocean, desert, and mountain—belongs to God. Earth is God’s beautiful creation, and He loves it. When He made the world, He called it “good.” God commanded us “to work it and take care of it” (Genesis 2:15). Food from the earth and all the good things we enjoy in creation are gifts from God.
A prison where I worked had a horticulture program. Some students delighted in growing plants, vegetables, and flowers for the first time in their lives. Gardens change us because in the process of caring for them, we grow too.
How it grieves God when we neglect, poison, and ravage our beautiful home. While we can’t prevent natural calamities, we can certainly work to sustain our land, water, and air.
We are called to walk with God as Adam and Eve did from the beginning, tending and loving our earth to the best of our abilities. The truly good news is that God sent His only Son because He loved the world so that we may have eternal life. All of creation “groans” and waits for redemption (Romans 8:22).
