“I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”

John 15:15
Jesus befriends us.

Consider His investment. “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends” (v. 13). We don’t deserve this love, yet nothing we do will turn Him away.

Consider His intimacy. “I have called you friends, for everything that I have learned from my Father I have made known to you” (v. 15). You’ll be a confidant of His thoughts and a participant in His plans.

Consider His initiative. “You did not choose me, but I chose you” (v. 16). Knowing everything there is to know about you, still He wants you as His friend.

Consider His invitation. “Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name” (v. 16). The door to His love, wealth, and riches is wide open. Ask Him!

“There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus,/ No, not one! No, not one!/ None else could heal all our soul’s diseases,/ No, not one! No, not one!/ Jesus knows all about our struggles,/ He will guide till the day is done;/ There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus,/ No, not one! No, not one!” (Johnson Oatman, 1895)
