“Jesus said to her, ‘Mary.’”

John 20:16
Mary looked inside the tomb. Jesus’ body wasn’t there. But she turned and saw Jesus—He was alive!

The grave is but an entryway to life with Jesus. Peter Marshall was stricken with what proved to be a fatal heart attack. As he was being carried out the front door on the stretcher, he looked up at his wife Catherine and said, “Darling, I’ll see you in the morning.” At the time neither of them knew that those would be his last words to her. In essence it’s what Jesus said to the disciples: “I will see you again” (v. 22). It’s what we too can say in the face of death. Evening may last for a while, but morning always comes. God’s last word is life!

Consider that the stone was rolled away from the tomb. It was not to let Jesus out but to let us in. Mary, Peter, and John looked in, and they were never the same again. They saw the risen Lord! At the end of the motion picture Jesus of Nazareth, as the disciples realize Jesus is alive, a voice is heard to say, “Now it all begins!” Through Jesus, today is a new beginning.

Insight

Jesus came singing love, lived singing love, and died singing love. If the song is to continue, we must now do the singing.
