“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

John 10:10
A teacher worked as a waitress to pay the bills when one day a man left her a tip of $1,500. She told him she couldn’t accept the money, but he said, “Yes, you can!” He’d heard she was working two jobs and thought she deserved it. Can you imagine how overwhelmed with gratitude she must have felt?

Our lives often seem empty, our joy stolen by devastating circumstances. Yet Jesus Christ told us He came so that we would have life and have it to the full. He offers us something beyond our expectations, even if we feel undeserving.

Paul wrote, “You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion” (2 Corinthians 9:11), and, “My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

If I have $100 and give away $10, I have given out of my riches. But if I give away all $100, I have given according to my riches. The latter is the way God gives. He has set before us all the riches of Jesus, giving us Jesus Himself through His Spirit. Our abundance never runs dry!
