“Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”

John 7:38
Behind my grandparents’ country store was a pipe from which flowed fresh spring water. I could always satisfy my thirst there. I only had to go get it. Often I think of that flowing water when I read Jesus’ words in John 7 about streams of living water.

Every morning during the Feast of Tabernacles, people processed to the pool of Siloam. The priest filled his golden pitcher with water as the choir sang, “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation” (Isaiah 12:3). Then all returned to the temple altar waving palms, and singing, “O LORD save us” (Psalm 118:25). At the time of the sacrifice, the priest poured the water through a funnel and onto the ground. On day seven, they celebrated God’s gift of water when Moses struck the rock in the wilderness.

At that moment of the Feast, Jesus stood and called out loudly that anyone who was thirsty should follow Him. You see, belief in Jesus opens the door to the Holy Spirit. Through His Spirit, He transforms believers into fountains of living water. Go to Him and ask!
