“Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’”

John 20:29
Through voluminous research on grief and death, Swiss-American psychiatrist Elisabeth Kler-Ross said she never knew a terminally ill child who didn’t believe in life after death. The Bible speaks often of children, possibly most memorably when Jesus said we must become like little children to enter the kingdom of heaven (see Matthew 18:3).

But it seems like the longer we live, the more our childlike faith is tested. John kept pointing to belief. In fact, he used the word “believe” 98 times in his gospel! He wrote that “Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (20:30-31).

This month we’ve considered that when Jesus shows up, transformation happens. As believers, we know He does more than just “show up”—He is with us always. My prayer is that you will grasp with childlike faith His constant, redeeming love in your life.
