“We eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.”

Philippians 3:20-21
As I’m writing this devotional, it’s the beginning of 2022. A new year means new goals, new plans for achieving them, and the absolute confidence that this is the start of a new me. It is tempting to believe that once we have achieved this one thing, we will finally be happy.

The same could be said of receiving. If God would only give in and provide what we desire exactly when and how we wanted, we’d be content and joy-filled. The truth is, if our focus is solely on receiving a blessing, we will never be satisfied. In reality, we long for Christ and wait for His return as we wait for our earthly hopes to also be fulfilled.

Whatever the situation is, you will always be waiting. No matter what it is that you have received, you will always be wanting. But Christ and His return will put an end to our restlessness. All the promises God has made to us are “yes” and “amen” in Jesus (see 2 Corinthians 1:20).

Remember that we do not wait in vain. Christ will come again, our aching hearts will be eternally soothed, and we will want no more.
