“Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

1 Corinthians 15:58
It is easy to think in these current times that we are doomed. Consider your own heart. When you see the culture around you seething and boiling with rage and anxiety, what do you feel? Do you despair? Do you grow angry? Do you fear for your children’s future?

Our grave concerns are nothing new. Paul has been assuring God’s people for generations that one day every part of our broken and rebellious world will be put under the feet of King Jesus. If you have been raised with Christ, that hope is yours to hold in dark times. More than that, this hope reaches into the present. God is working all things for our good and for His glory as we proceed toward that great and glorious day.

What does that mean for us? We can be steadfast and immovable, abounding in the work of the Lord. We can rise above the turmoil, for His steady hand has never left the steering wheel of His creation. Every circumstance is still well within His control. We can keep pressing on in His service—even in the face of stiff and brutal winds.
