“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

Romans 8:18
The words of this familiar verse are not wishful thinking. If the Lord was not supremely gracious, I think I would feel ridiculous at His coming when I reflected back on all my petty gripes and complaints. Friends, I know that your present sufferings are devastating. I know this because I often feel it as well. I also know that sometimes our pain clouds all other considerations from view.

But get this—the coming glory is just as real! In fact, it’s even more real than your present sorrows which often distort reality. The glory will be so great that there will be no glimpse whatsoever of our pain. God’s glory will not only be overwhelming, it also will be complete and total. Think about this: today we suffer with God’s glory in view, but there will be a day when God’s glory is all we see. Suffering will not only be a thing of the past, but surely it will be done away with forever.

We are an exile people who already know of our true home. Meditate on the glory that will cause our present heartaches to disappear from view.
