“LORD, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”

Psalm 90:1-2
A few years ago, the guys in my hiking group and I decided to trek to a High Sierra camp called Glen Aulin. We’d never been there but had heard great things about it in terms of its beauty, abundance of wild life, and excellent fly fishing. All the way there, we wondered if it would live up to our expectations. Did it ever! We arrived and were greeted by a massive waterfall crashing into a valley so pristine it hardly seemed real. For the next five blissful days, we fly fished, hiked the area, and marveled at the stunning grandeur of it all. Surely, it was a glimpse of heaven!

In Revelation 22 we read of what paradise will be like when the kingdom of God is fully realized. The entrance of sin at the beginning of time not only corrupted man and all of creation, it also broke our fellowship with God. When Christ returns, He will redeem all things.

The new heavens and earth will be infinitely more magnificent than even the most beautiful places on earth because there we’ll enjoy unbroken fellowship with God forever.
