“…always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Ephesians 5:20
Let’s thank God today for those who have led us or raised us in the Lord—perhaps this brings to mind parents, an influential teacher or friend, a pastor, a co-worker whose walk with the Lord has been a testimony. When God places us in families and in community, we see a reflection of His love for us.

“We thank you for mature adults, especially for fathers and mothers, who walk with you and whose faith has deepened our own faith. We bless you for their dedicated lives exemplified inside and outside of home, for their strength of character, their courage in times of adversity, their unfaltering faith, their persuasiveness of good and faithful lives, and the sacrifices they have made for the service of your kingdom. Thank you for those who have been involved with us enough to have made life beautiful. Save them from yielding to the world’s temptations, from living lives that are ungodly and unworthy of emulation. May no prosperity come and spoil them, no disappointments crush them, and no infidelity overpower them.”

It may be true that “strong Christians pray more, but they pray more because they realize how weak they are” (Paul Miller, A Praying Life, 2009).
