One of the best parts of having a passion for the outdoors actually begins before you ever step foot in nature. It’s the exploration of the multitude of trail gear and supplies you can buy. There are tents, clothes, boots, and backpacks available in hundreds of brands. Some people base their confidence level in the wild on the confidence level they have in their gear. Ultimately, though, even the best supplies get old and stop working. And then you must head out to look for new gear all over again.
Psalm 107 is a corporate psalm of thanksgiving that celebrates the nature of God’s redemptive love for His people. Through every challenge in life, God reminds us of the fact that He not only brings us into difficulties but also through them displays His love and care for us over and over again. We in turn grow in our confidence of His redemptive love as we see it work for His glory and our good. He is all we need!
And unlike the things of this world that grow old and unreliable, the steadfast love of God endures forever.
