"What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us."
(1 CORINTHIANS 2:12)

Isaiah 26:9, Luke 1:46-47

Have you been resurrected? If you have been
truly saved, you have been! Your spirit – or soul – has been resurrected to new life in Christ.
This happens in what theologians call regeneration. In regeneration, or the new birth, God’s Spirit awakens our souls to His love and truth. We are brought from death to life by His power and grace. A big change comes over us. We are able to see our sin and repent of it. We understand what Christ has done for us and freely desire to follow Him.

Before our soul’s resurrection, God’s Word made no sense. Afterward, its truth became our guide and help. We found new relationships with other resurrected souls. We received a firm hope and a faith that is the evidence of our resurrection (Hebrews 11:1). Still we live in the “already but not yet”: already renewed in Jesus but not yet fully in His presence. While we struggle against sin and ultimately death, we know our souls belong to Jesus and will one day join our resurrected bodies on a new earth where righteousness dwells.

Insight

WE ARE OBJECTIVELY ASSURED OF SALVATION BECAUSE OF GOD'S PROMISES. SUBJECTIVELY, THE HOLY SPIRIT ASSURES US DAILY THAT WE BELONG TO HIM.
