“Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.”

Isaiah 55:6
In an April 28, 2020, article for The Gospel Coalition, Christina Ray Stanton recalled she and her husband “were on the balcony of our 24th-floor apartment, six blocks from the World Trade Center… when out of nowhere a plane came roaring overhead and struck Tower 2 just 500 feet above us.

“The impact hurled us backward… and temporarily knocked us unconscious. Once we came to, we… evacuated our building. …Both towers soon fell, covering us with toxic dust and debris…. We eventually boarded a boat headed to New Jersey, unknowingly participating in the largest sea evacuation in history. [Over the next months] we grappled with unemployment, PTSD, and ongoing health issues, having inhaled the toxic dust that left us with ‘9/11 lungs.’”

Initially, Christina and her husband feared they wouldn’t survive. She agonized over how she had avoided God, had lived for herself, and did not know where she’d go if she died. Through 9/11 the Lord drew Christina and her husband to Himself.
