“If the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!”

Romans 5:15
The issue could be anything from sickness to car trouble, from debt to homework … when we are in trouble we go to someone more capable than we are, right? The bigger the problem, the bigger the rescue we need. And when we pray, we hope God will show up in a powerful way to help.

At Advent, God sent a baby to save the world. Not what we expected, was it? And when He was just an infant, our rescuer, Jesus, could not walk or talk or take care of Himself. As He grew, people still suffered and still longed for the Messiah.

Today we know very well the greatness of the Son of God, but a baby must have seemed at the time so small and helpless. Yet it was this Jesus who came to fix our biggest problem: our very humanity, broken and corrupted by sin. He lived an obedient life, as no man or woman had since the beginning of time when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. When He died on the cross, completely innocent, He broke the power of sin and death and set us free. The baby at Christmas is the only solution for our biggest need.
