“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well.’”

John 14:6-7
This month’s Anchor has given us several weeks of seeing God’s work in the hearts of four individuals who grew up as an atheist, an orthodox Jew, a Mormon, and a Buddhist. For all of them, the cost of leaving behind the faith they were raised in was great.

Perhaps you’ve been a believer your entire life. Perhaps there never was a momentous, radical conversion. Like me, your life journey with the Lord might look rather ordinary. But what resonates with each of us is how these four individuals were looking for fulfillment. Something in their search began to convince them that their feeble efforts at good works were not enough. They knew they would never measure up to earn their way to heaven by right living and good deeds.

Friends, Jesus alone is the way, the truth, and the life. When He said, “No one comes to the Father except through me,” He was being very clear. Not our good intentions, not our clean living, not our stellar performances, not all our striving will see us through. But He will!
