"The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the Lord will praise him - may your hearts live forever!"
(PSALM 22:26)
Our wedding reception was a beautiful lunch in the fellowship hall of the church. About 200 people were crammed into the room to eat, drink, laugh, hug, and celebrate. There is something about good food – food worth eating and enjoying – that speaks of a celebration. And there is nothing I love more than gathering with a group of people to eat and celebrate good gifts.
Jesus has laid out a wedding feast for us and waits until we will celebrate with Him. It is a feast for His Church, His Bride. It is not a feast for people who are “worthy”. It will be a celebration that we have been made worthy. Jesus calls, “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! …listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare” (Isaiah 55:1-2).
Because Jesus has given Himself, we will one day partake of our wedding feast. And each time we come to His table – together, as the Church – we look forward to being together at the feast of the Lamb.
